The training course is based on the guidelines of the Initiative Chronische Wunden (ICW®) and covers the following key areas:

• Anatomy and physiology of the skin

• Types of wounds and wound healing processes

• Causes and risk factors of chronic wounds (e.g. pressure ulcers, leg ulcers, diabetic foot syndrome)

• Modern wound diagnosis and documentation

• State-of-the-art wound treatment: selection and application of modern dressing materials

• Pain management and infection prevention

• Nutrition and wound healing

• Communication and counselling for patients and their families

• Legal and organisational aspects of wound management

• Interdisciplinary cooperation in healthcare
